Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Congrats!! Now, I used to bowl on a bowling league. My ball weighed 16 pounds. I want you to think about carrying 2 bowling balls , each weighing 16 pounds each!! WOW!! Heavy huh? That is how much weight you lost so far!! And, that is AMAZING!!!
My weight watchers teacher used to tell us, "Pick up a 10 pound of potatoes, and walk around carrying it, then put it down. " That's how you can commend yourself, and show yourself how well you are doing.
Hang in there with work. Just take your time, and if you get too tired, let your boss know. I'm sure if they know you had surgery, they will be a bit more sympathetic, if you need to go home early.
Boo
Part of this journey is learning to love yourself! Go stand in front of the mirror and shut off the "I am fat" tapes running through your mind. Tell yourself that you are working very hard and that you look fabulous! Repeat until you believe it!
Sometimes we need to fake it til we make it!!
OR - post some pics here and I bet you we will notice an amazing change!!
Shelley :o)
Dont be too hard on yourself about work... I had NO energy for the first tour weeks.... I can't imagine trying to work so soon after surgery.. I hope the people you work for are understanding... You have to take care of YOU.... This was major surgery and you don't want anything happening to you...
Congrats again... I am sure you will start to notice the changes soon... And take your measurements if you haven't already... That always helps me when I can't see the changes....
Go in a store and count how many packs of margerine it takes to equla the loss. We used that illistration at weight watchers!
