Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
On my diet plan it says that on stage 3 I can have 1 tbs. of potatoes
Enjoy your bite of potato!
When you add the new foods to your diet, I encourage you to eat at least 3 bites of protein for every 1 bite of something else. We don't have much room in our pouches and if you don't get at least 70 grams of protein your body will eat your muscles to get the protein it needs - not the weight we want to lose!!
Here is a simple way to look at it... your body is wonderfully resourceful and will run on alternate fuel sources when you don't give it what it requires...your body will burn fat if it doesn't get enough carbs and it will burn muscle if you don't eat enough protein. So, choose wisely, grasshopper!! ;)
Totally worth it!

Another thought...
There have been times since surgery when I really, really thought I just had to have a bite of something that wasn't good for me. Usually, once I got that bite in my mouth, I would realize the taste hadn't changed (or wasn't as good as I remembered) and the couple seconds of "pleasure" while eating it wasn't worth how it would make me feel (either from dumping or gaining weight)...so I spit it out. Not something to make a habit of, but a better choice than eating crap! :)
