I am a CNA and i went back after 2 weeks!

I'm on day 4 post RNY. I think 2 weeks is doable, but I was laproscopically done. They took my gallbladder at the same time.

I'm aiming for 2 weeks - life of a control freak I suppose!
My surgeon said he's had a few go back after 1 week ~ so I didn't feel quite as bad when I thought 10 -14 days.

And I spelled financially wrong in my first post ... lol ... That's what I get for not proofing first.

I had Sleeve surgery done laposcopy, and went back to work one week and one day after surgery. Total time off : 1 and half weeks.

I had lap RNY on a Monday and returned to work the following Monday. I was tired, but it went fine.

I was out almost 5 weeks. My largest indecision bursted open from infection and was extremely painful so it set me back a little while. But once I was on my feet I was ready to GO :-)

I was off for a month - and it was worth every day being gone from work. You will be experiencing major-league surgery and you need to give your body the chance to fully recover. I know that everyone's different, but if you can, give yourself the kind of rest your body will need.

I was off two weeks and one day. Since I have a lot of sick leave built up, my doctor said he wanted me to work a short week, the first week back. I felt fine but tired at the end of one week. My cousin took one week off and had no problems.

Great Question, I work from my home office...so I could possibly go back even sooner than 1 week? what do you all think?

I TOOK OFF 6 WEEKS WHEN I HAD MY SURGERY... I HAD THE SLEEVE, LAPAROSCOPIC. I TOOK THIS TIME TO ALLOW MY BODY TO COMPLETELY HEAL BECAUSE I WANTED TO TAKE MY TIME AND AVOID ANY COMPLICATIONS DOWN THE ROAD. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE RETURN AFTER 1 OR 2 WEEKS BUT AT SOME POINT THEY ARE OFTEN BACK IN SURGERY OR HAVE COMPLICATIONS LATER DOWN THE ROAD. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT - THESE WEIGHT LOSS SURGERIES ARE SO QUICK AND PREVLANET NOW THAT FOLKS THINK THEY CAN JUST JUMP RIGHT BACK IN THERE WHEN IN REALITY YOUR BODY HAS TAKEN ON A COMPLETE CHANGE AND NEEDS SOME TIME TO ADJUST.

I was back doing light manufacturing after the second week. I did have a 10 pound lift limit and no push/pull motions at all until 6weeks out. I had RNY lapro.

I had the Sleeve and took 1 week off. Was ready to go back to work after the 3rd day.

I think you have to do what is right for you, however don't overdo it. I would say for most 2 weeks is good but you need to get a note from surgeon even if you are the boss just to put in your file to protect you. U still have someone to report to unless your the owner. But this will protect you if it ever came back.

If you find that you are to tired,weak whatever when you return to work maybe you can modify your hours or something that way.

I am praying that you have a speedy recovery and a uneventful surgery.

I had surgery on Wed, home on Fri went to work on Mon or Tues (cant remember now i'm a year out) for half days until Thursday and then full time after that.
My doc wanted me to take 6 weeks off, but I was like uugh no that's not happening. I have too much to do at work. On the same token if I did not feel up to it I would have stayed home. I'm not saying it was easy, i was tired and weak but mom raised me tough and I was able to push myself a little. I did not have much in the tank energy wise once I got home but I made it through just fine.
Everyone heals at their own rate and you will find your pace. Listen to your body and do what you think is right for you.
