Have you ever wondered, if you could take one day from your past, any day you choose, and rewrite the outcome of that single day, would your life still have taken the same path it is on currently? Or would it take a totally different direction leaving you a totally different person? How much of our adult personality is formed by the days in our lives that have passed, and how much of our personality is just simple genetics and predetermined?

deep question:) and yes I absolutely look back and know what decisions I've made that has made me the person I am today...re-write or change them would have a domino affect so I don't know if I would change them.. For myself I believe much of my personality is as you put simple genetics and pre-determined.. but it has been encouraged or developed thru life experiences..

I absolutely know of days that would have made my life different. But I don't think I would choose to change them. Sure my life is not exactly what I planned. But I have a wonderful husband, and 3 great kids. I don't have the job I dreamed of, but I love my job.

I think I made my choices because of my personality, and those choices have shaped my understanding and compassion.

Again, nothing like the life I planned, but a wonderfully blessed life I never imagined.

Every choice takes us a new direction. It is up to me to own my choices and learn and grow from each one. I wouldn't be who I am today without the choices I have made. Even with the pain involved. I really like me and who I am and that says a lot about my choices. I studied nature vs nurture in one of my classes and I believe that nurture plays a vital part in our personalities and how we approach life. The beliefs we place on things influence the outcome. We have the choice to do things differently.

The day I would choose is a day where I actually didn't have a choice. My mom died when I was 10. I often wonder how my life would have been different if she hadn't died that day.

The good, the bad, and the ugly... my choices, and the choices of others have formed who I am today. And at 53, I have discovered I like who I am and am happy with my life. Its not perfect, nor am I (of course!).... But I'm not sure I'd do it any different. :) And that makes me feel good to realize that!
