Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

Congrats on your decion to go for the GBS- I too am Pre-Op.. I am ona "6 Month Supervised Diet and Weight Program" and after that, if I jump through ALL my insurances hoops *(that program being a requiremnet as well) I should be approved. HOPEFULLY, I should be having sugrery thei NOV or DEC..
I have some family that encourage me to go for it, and some that are TOTALLY against it. Also, some frieds are TOTALLY for it and a few AGAINST it.. BUT, I am doing this for ME! I have major health issues and a 8yr old daughter, and a husabnd that I dearly love and wish to be here for.
The diet I am on, is a LOW CARB Diet..30-60 carbs a meal and 10-15 per snack. I meet with a dietician once a month for a weigh in, she educates me on nutrition, ect.. Each month she said will be a different area on what she will teach me, to help in the future. And I have a food journal, that I write down on EVERY day what I ate for each meal, and HOW MANY carbs it was.
GOOD LUCK Melly and keep your head up HIGH!! Don't let anyone talk You out of doing something, that will MAKE YOU HEALTHIER and feel better!!
Good Luck to ALL the other pre-ops all well!!
