It's been two weeks since surgery. Other than one of the small incision's getting a bit infected everything's been perfect. Monday afternoon they put me on an antibiotic for that. Still no problem till last night. My esophagus hurts like hell since last night. Do yqou think I am suffering from acid reflux? Never had it before and can't say anything actually came back up?

it could be...I am not sure about after surgery. but I know I had acid reflux before I changed my diet and yes it hurts and burns bad. I hope you feel better soon sweetie. I would call and ask the nurse

I've suffered from Acid reflux for a long time. Sometimes, it feels like something is stuck in my throat and other times it all just burns. Nothing really feels like it's coming back up with reflux.

My surgeon did tell me that a lot of people suffer from reflux after the surgery. I'd talk to your doctor!

Sounds like it could very well be acid reflux. My surgeon put me on a prescription for acid reflux meds post-surgery. I only take them as I need them though, so maybe your doctor could recommend something OTC for you to take.

It could be. Do you take Nexium or anything like it, I never had acid reflux in my life but my surgeon requires it to keep stomach acids down. If you continue to suffer call your doc.

Thanks all for your replies. They did not put me on anything but I am certainly going to follow up on this as soon as the doctor's office opens. My doctor did mention it can be common in slivers and they repaired a hernia.

I was also given a perscription for stomach acid for the first month after surgery. I haven't had any problems since then.
