Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Thank goodness for the support on this site. For the first time in many years I know that someone understands me, and it helps.
I posted a "head" issue today also, and got an encouraging response, so hope you will get some too.
Hang in there, we will get better!
Good luck,
Michael
You will be successful! Just hang on a little longer!!
And Michael, I hear you loud and clear! I understand that I will have to make more/different changes than what I've done to date, I get that...
I am/have made life style choices that would equal weight loss for most people, I track and count and measure EVERYTHING I eat, have for years. I exercise regularly, have for years. I am on thyroid meds and keep on top of my #'s and still no loss...
Now here I am going to have this surgery.... hoping it will work. Having people tell me if you 'follow the plan' it will work... And following the plan does not bother me, cause if I could do what I did for the last (follow the plan!) 4 years without losing weight, I know I can follow this one, especially if I am losing weight!
Sometimes I feel like no one gets how hard I've worked at losing weight over the last 4 years! Thank god I had a doctor who believed me when I said I WAS doing the stuff I was suppose to be doing! I think she was convinced when she saw my cholesterol numbers go from ugly to beautiful over about a 4 month period, and stayed there...
I'm not saying you guys don't get it... Really I am not! I am just so tired of working so hard just to end up having to have surgery to see if it will work and worrying that it won't work any better!
I'm babbling... in a bad place right now. Tomorrow I go see the surgeon for the first time. It will be a better day!
I guess I just hope this time it's true and that this time it will work. And if not, well...guess i cross that bridge when I get to it.
Sorry for all of this.... ummmm.... junk I just spilled all over this page! :)
Though my BMI was not high enough, medical conditions were enough for insurance.

Down 30 lbs since per-op diet.
It's working, but it is a mind set
