Had my first breakdown :(

So this comes as a surpise to me, but yesterday I had a breakdown. I recently recieved confirmation of my surgery date and up to that point I was so happy and excited about it. I guess the date made it more real or something. Yesterday I was watching a show about the top 10 BBQ places in the nation. As I watched it, I actually felt depressed. Depressed because I would never be able to eat like that again. Watching that show was the worst thing I could have done. I actually broke down when my GF was talking to me about it. Its very sad to me that the only TRUE con I can think of is that I will not be able to enjoy food like I use too. I feel so weak!

Your emotion is very real and I understand. I can't believe how isolated I felt in the beginning (My RNY was May 28, 2013). But I also was blown away that my activities and entertainment was so centered around food. You will not eat the large amounts that we tend to eat before the surgery. But you will be able to eat - I have found I can eat just about anything. I just can't eat that much. What I am finding is the head game is so much harder. Believe me when I say that the weight loss is so unbelievable cool. You will have your BBQ again only in a thinner and healthier body with a smaller amount on your plate. Don't give up!

I totally understand how you are feeling since I'm day 3 on liquids. I am still preparing meals for my family because it keeps me busy but it makes me sad to know I can't have it at least for awhile if possible later. I just keep the goal in mind and will power high and know I'm doing the right thing for myself! You can do this, be strong and keep your head held high!! :-)

My breakdown came after surgery. My husband and daughter were eating a pizza, and I was still on liquids. I flipped a frigging crazy switch. All I could smell was pizza, and it smelled glorious. Had a catastophic meltdown in the bedroom, crying, flailing, you name it. "What in the hell have I done to myself?!?!?!?", "I was fine the way I was!!!!","No one was meant to live like this!!!!" "I hate my life!!!!!" Oh, yeah, Im sure it was epic. Looking now in retrospect.... I. Am. Hilarious.
Within 2 months I was able to have pizza, but no longer really wanted it. Tastes like grease. Im almost 2 years out now, and I can eat anything I want. Heck yeah I indulge in things that I shouldn't. Nope, dont make it out running everyday. But Im doing great, still loosing.... just much slower now. You'll do great!!!
