Hi everyone
Let me start with the great news. Prior to surgery on April 9th, I weighed in at 346 pounds, Today I weighted in at 330 pounds for a grand total of 16 pounds lost in 6 days - how scary/exciting is that - It completely blew me away. My blood pressure is high but other than that I got the green light to advance to the all protein phase - 4, 4 oz cups every hour for the next week and on my next visit April 25th I will be advanced to the Puree Stage.
I wish I could say that I got to enjoy this victory but nah - no way in hell. After I got the news and my FMLA papers - I went to go drop them off at my job - when I got there I was reprimanded by the head of HR for having (get this) walked off the job without notifying anyone that I was going on medical leave. In short, I was accused of being MIA from work. Now imagine my first day out of the house - my blood pressure is high and I'm being yelled at all while on shaky ground 6 days out of surgery. Not only was I publicly embarrassed but no matter what I said the Director refused to here me that I had followed the proper protocol with her staff. I left in angry and broke down in tears when i returned to the cab where my husband was waiting. I called my union immediately when i returned because to say the least i had had it with the bs on my job and they instructed me how to handle it - I had to spend 3 hours retracing my steps and documenting everything all over again, by the time i finished my eyes were blurred - head was throbbing and my blood pressure was higher than when i left the doctors. In short, i was in full panic mode because i suffer from anxiety attacks. All i could do was lay down and sleep it off for an hour.
My husband woke me up for my fluid intake and no sooner than I got up i checked to see if HR responded to my email and low and behold my sister had left me an email response to a question I had asked her - in short i wanted to know why i hadn't heard from her to see how i am doing in addition i let her know that there is no way had the tables been turned that I would have skipped a beat being there for her - Her response "it's not like you had real surgery all they did was put staples in you so you could loose weight - had you had heart or kidney surgery I would have been there for you She said all you did was get the fat sucked out of you. Round two of extreme tears. That was by far the most insulting thing ive heard to date and I am so done with her right now. I am at the point of no return with her.
I plan to sleep all the hurt feelings away, get up tomorrow start fresh and enjoy my first weight loss victory.

YOU know that this surgery is MAJOR surgery.... And it is "NOT the easy way out!"... You have a wonderful husband who supports you, and all of us here who are with you....

On a more positive note, i pray everyone is having a beautiful day and unlike yesterday i am am celebrating my victory and i am over joyed at my progress so far. I couldn't wait to leave the doctors office to share it with you all and just like the devil would have it i got side tracked with nonsense, letting foolishness steal my joy. NEVER AGAIN.
Please let us know about the job thing. It's good you are union as they will cover your back unlike if it was just an indivdual.
I am sorry that your employer is acting this way. I cant understand why they would say that you would be MIA. I know you had to file the proper paperwork to get the time off from work. They dont seem to be concerned. I am so sorry that you are going through this mess when you are already stressed.
Just remember to stay focused on you and your health. Just keep your eyes on the big reward. I will be thinking of you and praying that things work out.

There have been many debates on this board of who to tell and not to tell about WLS. When I started my journey I told very few people, only a handful of people knew. I was very selective because I didn't want any prejudgements. This included family because they can be the worst. As started to lose weight and felt succesful I told anyone who asked because I didn't care at that point, but the funny part is I still have not told my family lol. I hope you have a better day.
