I will be having my surgery next week but as of yet my surgeon has yet to mention a goal weight.

My surgeon told me that my ideal weight would be 110, I can't even imagine that!!!

My nut told me what she thought would be my best goal weight. The dr never has mentioned it. 160 lbs is what she thinks.... I would rather go for 145

I was never a goal weight nor was I asked to provide one. i did this surgery to get healthy not to weight a specific weight. I think my body will let me know were my goal weight should be.

No one has ever talked to me about a goal weight. But my personal one is 150lbs.

My personal is 150 too.

I have not been given a goal weight as yet either but I am only about 6 weeks into the six months that my insurance requires. I know that I will probably not see what everyone calls, onederland. I am 6'4" and large framed and think I would look too gaunt under 200 lbs. I am thinking that 220, is going to be around where I should be but will make it a point to ask the pros I am working with next appointment.

My surgeon told me my goal weight the day I saw him for the first time last week. I have to get down to 173 (I'm tall and big boned, so if I go lower, I won't look too good). So I have to lose 215 pounds. Hoping to lose the 21 lbs in 6 months that they require. I'm already down 8 lbs. You should do what's best for you and healthy for yourself. Good luck!

My surgeon told me that rny would help me lose up to 75% of my excess body weight so I could expect to get down to around 200 pounds. She didn't give me a "goal" weight but my own personal one is 175 and if I do better than that, great!

I chose my own goal weight. They never gave me a goal weight.

My nut gave me a goal weight of 125. My doctor thought I'd land at 160, but didn't give me a goal weight.

I was not "given" a goal weight either. I chose my own goal weight (though I realize it may not be realistic) by using the BMI calculators and finding the midpoint in the "healthy" range (somewhere around BMI 21.75). Check out the calculator and charts at: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/.

I was *asked* by my Doc, Nut, Shrink, and NP what I thought my goal should be and none of them told me I was crazy. However, 80% loss of "excess" body fat is a "typical" result for WLS - so they say.

I just picked a weight in the middle of the "normal" range for my height, and went for it. My surgeon had set a higher number for me, but it was technically overweight for my height, and that just wasn't good enough for me. I wanted "normal", and I got there. You can, too.
