Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
As to protein: you gotta start getting it in, otherwise, your body might have to burn muscles to obtain the protein it needs. Find a protein supplement you can tolerate. My favorites are these: Click Espresso Protein Drink (vanilla latte or mocha, both are great). A ready to drink beverage called OhYeah (30 gr. of protein per container, lots of yummy flavors). As for powders, I like Jay Robb. There's no aftertaste, and they are sweetened with stevia.
If those don't suit you, find one that does. This is important, because you are going to be challeneged through your meltdown to get in the protein, and it's really, really hard to eat enough proteins to do it.
At 13 months PO, I still have a protein shake to start off the day. I don't think I could make my protein goal without it.
Finally, remember that it took time to put the weight on, and it takes time to take it off. Losing weight at the rate of 2 lb. a week is really good. Believe me, you aren't going to be the one person for whom RNY does not work......LOL. Hang in there, girlfriend.

If you havent already find a good counselor. This journey is about our heads more than it is about food.
Just keep working to get 70+ grams of protein in a day, all your water, move as much as you can, and get 8+ hours of sleep. It will come off, I promise!!

tons of food options, you have to be a little imaginative...if all else fails, check out our recipes here or on eggface.
you WILL do this, it just takes some time. They say if you lose slower, the better you are anyway....
I GOT FAITH IN YOU!! {{{{{hugs}}}}
As you get lower and lose less fast, the inches show up more as well. I lost twenty pounds in the las three months, and went down from not fitting in stretchy 22s to an easy 18
chin up it will happen!!!

My nut got back to me and said I am right on track. I guess I thought that I should be losing weight faster based on a comment my surgeon made to me at my last appointment which was something along the lines of "If you don't lose a decent amount of weight, I want you to contact the nut."
Ok, so what does "decent" mean??? Apparently what I have lost is decent and I just didn't know it!
Thank you all for the support!!! I'm trying to be creative with meals and such so that I can get in my 70+ grams of protein. I think I'm going to be relying more heavily on Shelly's site.
Get the protein and fluid in and it will fall off once the plateaus end.
I don't consider my protein drink a meal replacement. I drink 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up and follow it with a bottle of water. Then, after waiting my 30 minutes, I go ahead and eat what I call "breakfast" - usually around 9:00 am.
