I had my surgery friday.
I am on the full liquid diet now.
I read about people having trouble getting in their protien or being not able to eat.
Today I had a protien shake for breakfast in yougort with a little milk. (42) grams)
Cheddar soup(made with milk) for lunch and dinner 20 grams.
That is 62 grams.
I took all my meds and vitamins no problem.
Is this odd?
I felt kinda hungry at supper but could have easily went without.
I have lost about 12 pounds in this, my first week.
I have not thrown anything up and in fact my friend encouraged me to have an ice cap the other day and I had a quarter of it without any trouble.
Although I realize I probably should not have had that..
I don't know ... am I eating too much?

I'm anxious to hear the replies to this. I had surgery on Monday and today is my first day off clear liquids. I have had no problems getting my drinks in like I thought I would.

Maybe the trouble starts with solid food?

Sometimes I think that the problem starts when you just can't even bear the thought of another protein shake - let alone the taste. I was on 4oz liquid at a time during the first 2 weeks. 4 oz of lite soy milk plus half a scoop of Unjury, 85 calories and 13 grs protein was and still is (at five weeks) my breakfast of choice - it chases the pills down. 42 grams of protein in one meal sounds really high to me. How much volume and over how long? I have limits on both quantity and time spent eating - maybe thats a difference between programs. But whatever works for you - works. Congrats.

Well my powder has 35 grams yougurt 6 grams and I am adding another gram for the little bit of milk I used.
I use my single serving blender and with about 3-4 ice cubes the shake makes the blender about 3/4 full.
Is that bad ?
And yes it does help the pills go down.

I am glad you are doing well, don't rush your recovery or eating. Do exactly as you were told by the doctor. 12 pounds in one week is very good. Keep it up.

There are so many differences in individuals and also big differences in the various GBS programs, consequently, there is a very wide range of what is 'normal' with where you are at right now. Follow the program your team laid out for you as closely as possible. Some folks take a while to come up to minimum protein level. The three most important things to remember immediately post op - protein, water and walking. These are musts. And give yourself lots of rest and time to recover. It is the beginning of a journey, not a 100-yard dash.

Enjoy your trouble free progress to date. Be highly observant but don't worry. Sounds like everything is fine! Congrats.
