I am dealing with some mental health issues and one of my problems is extreme anxiety, normally seen when in social situations. I have noticed after losing so much weight so far I am so much more in the limelight every day and my anxiety is getting crazy. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issues with anxiety?

I used my weight and humdrum looks to hide from people and now that I am losing, losing, losing I am all too seen.

I have severe social anxiety, and losing weight has caused me some distress. I thought losing weight would make me feel better in social situations but nope. I went to my doctor and he incressed my meds a little. I dont leave my house alot except to go for my daily walk so i dont take to many differnt meds. I know i need to try and be social but right now i just do what helps me remain sane

I hear you... it's tough being seen after trying to hide for so long... I've gotten 3 job promotions since I lost all my weight and it's sad... but I think that would have never happend if I hadn't had surgery.

I totally understand. I wanted to be invisible, and weight seemed to do it. If this continues to be a problem, I recommend that you consider seeing a therapist. If that doesn't rock your boat, meditation or other spiritual practice may help you. Also, your physician may be able to prescribe an anti-anxiety medication. All viable options. Don't suffer needlessly. :)

Farmgirl- Well I do see a therapist and am on a med. I am going to ask about something specifically for anxiety next time I go. I am so glad I am not alone. I am going to school full time and putting myself out there but it is so hard.

BigRed- it is good to be social but I understand. If I could I would stay in my house more often than not. I live in a small town and know a lot of the people so going out isn't as hard as it could be.

UpNorth- That really is a sad state of affairs. Congrats on the promotions but it should have happened no matter your size.
