Fried foods

Ok I know we can't eat fried foods but my boyfriend wants to make me lemon chicken from scratch . He wants to know if he can batter and cook the chicken in olive oil ? Any ideas? Is this ok or no?

As long s it is within your overall meal plan and calorie limits...why not...good protein.

I don't eat fried foods because I can't stand the taste of them anymore.. I agree with sarasota... In moderation, and keep within your daily guidelines and you should be fine...

If you get a good nonstick pan chances are he could do it with no oil, or maybe a little water occasionally in bottom of pan.

My husband is disabled now so he does most of the cooking, that's how I like my stuff cooked, and if he does use oil it tastes gross to me now.

I don't know how far out you are. Personally, I don't worry about fried anymore...but during the first 4 months it mattered.

Fried food don't bother me now altho I do eat it in moderation. The first year or so after surgery it was a danger food that would make me sick. While I was in rapid loss I avoided fried foods too. The chicken is good protein I do question if the sugar content and the coating might make you ill.

One of the things that I do with fried foods is fry it partially and then bake it the rest of the way to get rid of the excess grease...I do use olive oil and it seems to settle the best in my tummy

If you are in your weight loss part of your journey, you should avoid the extra calories that aren't heavy nutritionally--like oils and carbs. Be aware that for a lot of us, weight loss stops or slows as we increast carbs and fats.

Can he make the recipe for you in a "light" way? Use the flavors, but skip the less healthy aspects of it?

Fried foods are ok in small portions. I have had no problems w them w my sleeve. I am 1 year 8 months post op.

At 16 months out I have little trouble with most things! but the other night I tried a fried egg roll and thought I was going to die. I had horrible heartburn, foamies and stomach cramps for hours. Never eating that again.
