I'm interested to see what others are eating too. I dont think I'm getting enough protein and I know I'm not getting enough water/liquids. I have an appt on Monday with the surgeon and nut. Will see what they have to say...
My nutritionist said to strive for a pattern of 2oz morning, 3 oz lunch and 3 oz dinner. For each ounce of protein counts 7 gr of protein so it works out to 56 gr protein plus protein shake which mine are 30 gr. this puts me at 86 gr per day.
Regarding portions, how much you can eat usually varies from food-to -food. Carb-laden food (like chips and even applesauce) seem to go down easier than dense protein (like chicken, shrimp and lobster). Most people can also eat mores when it comes to sliders like yogurt and cottage cheese. Soup is another food that goes right through us (and we shouldn't really eat anyway since it breaks the no drinking with meals or 30 minutes before/after).
At 2 months, I was usually having a protein shake for breakfast, a protein bar for lunch, and part of a chicken thigh with some light sour cream or light mao for dinner. I didn't enjoy eating at that point. It was just something I had to do. I used the protein shake and protein bar because I couldn't eat enough protein from whole foods to get my 70 grams in. Every bite had to count towards my protein goal...I didn't want to waste space on mushrooms or even fruit (I figured I couldn't eat enough fruit or veggies to matter from a nutritional standpoint and I was taking 2 multi-vitamins a day). If I went out to eat, I could eat 1-2 chicken wings or a couple shrimp.
As long as you are getting in 70 + grams of protein, and taking your vitamins, you are probably getting enough to eat. Our bodies were very efficient at storing energy for such a time as this!! Even at 3 1/2 years out, I am astounded at how little food I actually need.
