Also, your surgeon will be able to tell you what wls would be best for your allergies.

I do not have food allergies but my daughter has a whole bunch. Talk to your doctor. It probably has a lot to do with which foods you are allergic too. Protein is soooooo important so you need to be sure you can eat proteins in the quantity needed. My heart goes out to people who have food allergies so I'm sending big hugs your way!

I'm allergic to dairy. My dad had sleeve surgery back in the summer and he does protein shakes twice a day. The protein powder is daory based. I know there are egg and soy based protein powders. I'm concerned about my meds too after surgery.

I only have strawberries allergies but I do those like always don't eat them because I have a aversion to death. lol there are pure powders I use one. and you can mix them with anything water juice coffee. I agree with the others talk to your doctor and nutritionist they would be the best people to guide you on this .

You will be able to make this work...you just need to plan ahead and get all the information that you can prior to surgery and track down those items that you will be able to consume post-op. There will probably be a learning curve but you got this. My daughter has celiac disease and when we had to go gluten free it was quite a challenge but we did our research, consulted specialists and a nutritionist, and now it is a no-brainer. I feel for you. You can do it, though.

I don't have food allergies but what aspartame and sucralose do to me is very ugly. Doing this way of life without those has been challenging to figure out all I can safely have and what I can't. But even though it has its challenges, its worth it. Once you figure out what's safe its easy enough.

If you are allergic to the casein protein in dairy, I don't have to tell you that it is tricky. It tends to be in the weirdest things as an additive including lunch meat. You should still be able to make it work but you will probably really need to watch calcium intake as well as protein. Many vegan options can be tried. My daughter uses a soy based protein powder mixed with soy milk.

I have the opposite problem. Egg whites make me sick so I can't do the protein with egg albumin in it (started having the problem about 1 year post op but my mom has the same issue and hasn't had WLS, so I don't think my RNY caused it).

It is probably a good discussion to have with your surgeon. You may want to consider the sleeve, since it doesn't have the malabsorption component. Also, you can still take NSAIDS with the sleeve.
