For me it really depends on how its cooked and if any sauces are used. I have found that watching those 2 things keeps me from the foamies with chicken. Doesn't help with roast beef though. :(

CHICKEN DOES CAUSE FOAMIES FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 6-8 MONTHS. LATER I SWITCHED FROM BREAST TO BONELESS SKINLESS THIGHS BECAUSE THEY ARE A LITTLE MORE MOIST AND GO DOWN A LITTLE EASIER. VERY SMALL BITES AND CHEW CHEW CHEW BEFORE SWALLOWING.

Ok, I have to tell you that chicken is very difficult for many. I was not able to tolerate it until about a year post op and I still have trouble sometimes. For some reason chicken is hard on the tummy and has made me violently ill. Be careful with it. One thing you can try is to eat a very small bite and stop. Then eat another small bite a few days later. Continue to do this for a while and make sure it is only one very small bite. It seems that somehow the good bacteria that digests chicken is no longer in some of our tummies and you have to build it back by taking a little bit every so often. Just be very careful because it may not do the trick. Anyway, I just had to wait a long time before I could eat it without too much difficulty. Take care.

I'm 13 months out and chicken is still iffy for me. I have been eating pork and have had much better luck with it. My dietician told me to do bone-in pork chops so that there's a little more fat with the meat - it makes it juicier. Good luck!

What's a foamie? The only mean I can eat is chicken. Some fish is ok but pork and red meats are off my list cause of my gout. Now I'm getting a little worried!

I have a hard time with chicken, and I'm more than 2 years PO. Chew very well. Still, I find that I can ingest very little of it cf. beef. Weird. I also find scrambled eggs to stuff my pouch very quickly. :)

I'm 11 months out and still have lots of problems with chicken, beef, and pork.

They are generally fine in a soup, and usually ok with gravy, but any drier than that and it's barfing for me.

Oh, and eggs for me also.

Poached with runny yolks are ok, but anything else doesn't work.

yes. before I read I was going to say that the chicken is more dry. I have had no problems but I guess that is me. Maybe I just chewed so long nothing could get by dry.

I am 23 days out and I am unable to tolerate chicken. It makes me so sick.... Ugh. I must agree that dark meat, thighs and drumsticks, are the most moist. It is still hard for me to tolerate. I have found that turkey deli slices, sliced to this thinnest possible is easy for me tolerate. It is easy to chew, swallow and digest. I guess we have to take it slowly and one day at a time.

I found one way that I tolerate checken, and I love it...Sorry to those that have read this before - I bake a whole chicken for one hour, then shred it and simmer it for another hour in one jar of salsa and one jar of taco sauce (I only use mild for both). This is very tender and very moist. I eat it with a spoon on either light sour cream, or 0% greek yogurt, a bit of lowfat shredded cheese, and a couple slices avacodo. I have not had a problem with it cooked this way.
