So preop I had a body media and used it for over a year. Post op I saw Fitbit in a store and was intrigued by it's smaller size, and the little braclet and the fact that it can get wet. Thought it would be nice to wear swimming and record the excercise there.
So now I have worn the fit bit for 2 months. Some of the things I have learned. Keep in mind this is the braclet, or Flex.
- Pushing a grocery buggy will put it in sleep mode or actually turn it off, so will shaking a small bottle of paint, really kind of annoying. Body media you have to push and hold the power button to get it to power off.
-It does not record biking or even Kayaking as excercise unless you enter it manually. Body media records any type of excercise that raises your heart rate and gets you going.
-The battery has a short life and you have to remember to get it on the charger every five days. Body media will go 2 or 3 weeks.
-You have to tell the Fitbit when you are sleeping, body media just knows.
The one thing I like about the fitbit is it is a little more discreet. The body media is a little odd looking and always makes people question what it is. FitBit just looks like a clunky braclet with no style. :)
I have a feeling I will switch back to my body media when I start wearing shirts with sleeves again this fall, even though you do have to pay a monthly fee and fit bit is free. Body Media offers much better data across the board.

That is good to know. Next Month my work is doing a Health wellness month with keeping track with the walking and what ever else you want to track, they chose to do the Fitbit Each person pays just 35 dollars for it instead of the 100 that it normally cost. So all in all I will have to see how it works and if I will chose to change to something else some other time!

After I saw your original post on Fitbit vs Body Media, I tried Fitbit flex. Did NOT work for me. In my job I use my arms a lot. Every time my arms were active, it recorded it as steps even though I was sitting in a chair. I reached over 10,000 steps often while sitting!! I did not care for the food journal part either, but haven't tried any others. The size was great. I returned it within the time frame and got my money back.

I use the fit bit every day and love it. I don't have the bracelet style though. I use the small clip on and generally have it clipped to a pocket. I can't take it in the water but that has been the only drawback to it and I just enter that manually. It has a long battery life and I like that I can set alarms on it. I use the vibrating alarm as a reminder throughout the day to get up from my desk and take a short walk.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
