I finished doing everything I needed to do to get cleared for surgery. I did the EKG and since it came up with some weird readings I went to my cardiologist to get clearance. I did the chest X-ray, the blood labs, the ultrasound on my liver (fatty and very large) and gall bladder (no gall stones), the meeting with a dietician and two two hour classes on the pre and post-surgical bariatric diets. And lastly I did the psychological exam and passed. So all is a go. I am just waiting for the cardiologist's approval paperwork to get to my bariatric surgeon's office and they will call me to set up the series of appointments necessary before surgery and the official surgery date!
My doctor only requires one week of liquid diet before surgery, as apposed to his partner doctor which requires two. The liquid diet shrinks your liver and reduces the fat around the area, and thus reduces the chance of complications, so I am going to do the full two weeks to be safe.
