Hi, I had a gastric bypass in 2007, and since then I have NEVER had a firm BM. Don't mean to gross anyone out, but I have severe diarrhea ALL THE TIME. I KNOW it is from the gastric bypass. I even went back to my surgeon and he told me nonsense. I have had every test known to man, colonoscopy, upper camera in stomach. Looking for colitis, allergies, everything and they cant pinpoint on anything. I eat healthy, protein, etc, I could eat nothing but protein ALL MONTH LONG and still have diarrhea. My question is this: Does anybody else have problems with diarrhea and constant gas?

I had irritable bowel syndrome years ago and they couldn't find anything wrong. It got better and surgery improved on it. I went to a seminar on vitamins given by a local hospital and one of the doctors said that taking probiotics improved her case of IBS. One in every three Americans have it. Try adding food with good live bacteria to your daily diet and/or get the pills.

Have lotsa gas, but I did before too. No diarrhea in fact if I don't take stuff and eat right I get plugged up!
This don't sound normal to me. I think I'd see another doctor.

Also iron can constipate, magnesium can do the opposite.

I've have a similar problem since my sleeve surgery about 3 1/2 months ago. I just met with my NUT and she said it was caused by not enough fiber. She put me on a very low dose of Fiber Chew and also probiotics. I just started taking them this week and it seems to be helping. You should talk to your NUT about it.

Have you tried adding fiber to your diet? I eat whole wheat bread to help keep me "regular".

I had to eliminate all Whey Products. I still get dairy in the form of cheese and greek yogurt. I use almond milk for my protein shakes. I also eliminated Gluten to stop the gas. For me it's not a true allergy, but an intolerance. The Whey gives me diarrhea, and the Gluten gives me gas, so then when I have diarrhea I can't control it if I also have gas.
Hope this helps, but I agree with getting a second opinion.
