Every dietitian and nutritionist even Dr. Oz lol just saying talks of balance and moderation. So I am a big curious. I can see her saying no snickerdoodles but things like fruit veggies legumes. they give your body fuel/energy. You do have to keep track though not to over due. sorry running on ....back to my first questions? oh and why no good carbs?
My trainers always tried to get me to follow a different nutritional plan, too. Many of them just don't have the nutritional background to understand our new anatomy.

I did this because my surgeon told me to, NOT because my trainer told me to... BIG difference. Keep that in mind as well.
I truly believe this journey is different for each of us. What works for one, might not work for another... And what works today, might not work tomorrow... We have to learn to adjust our sails with the changing winds :)
