If you are exercising alot and burning off cals you do need to up your protein intake and cals intake so you will continue to loose. This is what my nut. and bariatric physical therapist both said. If you exericse more than 45 min a day at 5 months out you need to be at 1200. I recently up'd the cals I eat in Jan of this year when the gym I joined finally opened.
Good luck!
And once I hit maintenance, for my size (I am 5' 10" ish and broad shouldered) I will find myself somewhere around 12 to 15 hundred calories (depending upon my workout schedule) a day. All sounds pretty reasonable to me... :) Of course, time will tell if it all works out this way!
