Same blog also has info on understanding the pouch:

as well as info on Mechanics of Protein Absorption

Thanks Becca - really interesting. The drinking before and after meals is the one area where I really struggle. This certainly made me think!!

I already know that this is going to be one of those areas I have to work on... Like put my drink FAR AWAY from me when eating... I saved this link in my journal so when I am struggling postop I can come back and reread it :) Think I'm gonna need the reminder!

this is all very valuable information but what I am curious about is.... does anything change when you are having vertical sleeve surgery vs RNY. for instance the size of the portions you eat the amount of protein and fluids you take in, and the wait time for drinking etc. Often times I read posts and wonder if these same things apply for the sleeve. for instance having strictures, is it possible that sleeve patients can get them when their intestines were never changed. Or the foamies ppl talk about? IDK there is so much more information out there and a lot more ppl who share experiences but they are RNY patients and I wonder if the same things apply for the sleeve patients.

Elrios I had sleeve surgery and had many bouts with foamies over the past 2 years especially at the beginning and as I introduced new foods. I am still cautious about eating to fast, to much or food that just doesn't agree with me. Drinking before and after meals are the same for all WLS I believe. I had a co-worker notice recently that between each bite I still put my fork down as I chew....lol....one of the tricks to eating the right way!!
