I have a question for those of you whho had drains. Mine was removed on Sunday afternoon prior to coming home. I'm wondering how long does it continue to drain. Seem like I'm changing dressings every 6 hours or so.

mine didn't stop until about a week out from surgery but everday it got less and less.

I had my drain in for 12 days, and got it removed yesterday. My surgeon said it will drain for the next few days and then stop, so it may take longer for yours since yours was removed prior to coming home. hope it gets better:)

Mine drained for about three weeks, it was a big wound. Hope yours heals fast!

I did not have drains either and did have any drainage. When I went home I did not have any bandages at all. They glued the holes shut.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll stop worrying now :) It's starting to slow down some. The rest of the incisions are glued and healing well.

Mine continued to drain for around 10 days after the tube was removed. But my tube wasn't removed until a week after my surgery.

My guess is that you will probably continue to drain and have to change the dressing frequently for at least a week. Then the incision starts to heal over.

Thaks everyone! Actually yesterday it stopped draining. The wound looks good and clean. It's starting to heal up nicely.
