I was watching the Dr. Phil show yesterday and cried. They did a show about the guy who made an online plea for Dr. Phil to help him and he did. Then there was an update about a woman who wanted to be the worlds largest bride and was trying to get to 700 or more pounds. They sent her to a special home for people with weight issues to get healthy and she was sneaking out to different fast food places to eat and binge. Her fiance told her that he loved her as a person but if she lost the weight he wouldn't be attracted to her any longer and was actually encouraging her to over eat. It made me sit back and thank God that while my husband has only ever known me as fat he wants to see me get healthy above all things. He has a dream of carrying me over the threshold something he has never been able to do because I have been to heavy. He tells me daily how proud of me he is because I took this step. I just don't understand why someone would want to weigh that much on purpose and be upset when the scale said you lost some pounds. Even at my heaviest I have tried to lose the weight because I wanted to feel better. I cried because the scale went up.
This young lady might fear that if she loses weight she will lose him, which by his statements would be the truth, but doesn't realize that others are out there that could love her for who she is no matter what her size.
I had heard of her before on another talk show, but hadn't realized that her fiance told her he wouldn't love her if she lost weight.
I don't know if he is large or skinny and actually i feel that he is playing mental games with her. Its sad but all i can do is pray that she realizes what she is doing to her health before it is to late.
Thanks for posting this it makes us stop and think. I too have a wonderful and supportive husband who cheers me on and Loves me unconditionally no matter what. But by me changing my eating habits it is changing his as well.
Dr Oz did a show that delve into this trying to incourage the woman involved to stop ruining there health an face the facts that if an individual you are in a relationship demand this behavior of you.....there is something very unhealty about it.
It seems like she turned around by the end of the show since she had broken up with the guy a week and a half before. Dr. Phil explained that when she died from obesity the guy would just go out and find another fat girl until she died, then find another fat girl etc... The guy was normal weight and he wasn't risking his health. If anyone wants you to kill yourself to be with him, he really isn't worth it.
I am so fortunately to have a husband that allows me to be myself and is supportive of me with anything I want to do. He has encouraged me to be healthy and is 100% behind me and we are able to communicate effectively and have mutual understanding and respect for each other!! I am glad that she turned around by the end of the show lets hope that she continues to improve her life and will not allow that loser to control her any longer.
