Today on Dr. Oz, they talked about emotional eating, and hunger pain signs. I only caught a few minutes of it, but if you taped it, or have a chance to watch it, ck it out!!
My friend told me they had said it's so important to identify if it's emotional head hunger, or you are actually hungry!
And, if you feel you are hungry, choose that apple or banana, instead of that cookie. In our case eat that sf jello or popsicle, or lite yogurt...
It just said, sometimes people have to slow down in eating, make healthy choices, and see what a difference it can make.
Some simple things to remember, even though our path and list of food is small, we can still always go back to simplicity, and think before we eat. It's a goal and something we can all achieve to do on a daily basis.
I just realized a lot in the past week. I've been trying to eat slower, chew to the applesauce consistency, and not eat as fast as I used to. I have a hiatal hernia...found that out, about 3 weeks ago, when I had my endoscopy done.
I have noticed, since I've practiced, eating slower, chewing to the correct consistency, and taking smaller bites, the pain has subsided so much from the hiatal hernia area. !!!!!
I am proud of myself!! I can do this, and after I have my surgery, will continue to do my very best!

You should do just fine after surgery especially since you've started practicing already =)
I had a hiatal hernia. My surgeon fixed it during my RNY surgery. He said that it's fairly common and he has to do that very frequently as part of the bariatric surgery.
It sounds like you'll have all the little tricks already in your pocket when you get your surgery :) good for you!
