Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have known 2 people that is did not work but they never did the plan, they figured out right away that they could eat anything and continued to do so. Yes they lost some but did not keep it off very long.
I was sure it would not work... But it has.... Now i worry that i can work it! Ha! Head games for sure!
Just look at how many of us are on this site and have had good results. We are only a tiny part of the number of folks in the world who have had various WLS and had good results. True some lose faster than others. But we all lose! If it takes a year or 2 years or more, it's still a success!
I was scared that my huge appetite wouldn't go away and I would fail. But It did and I feel successfull. I was at the doctor yesterday and they are quite pleased. I've lost 130 lb in a year. They said If I stopped now it would be fine or if I want I can lose some more.
It works!
My psychologist gave me a great analogy..Trying to lose weight when you are morbidly obese is like rolling a large boulder up a steep hill. It takes every ounce of energy and focus you have. If you loose focus for a moment, the boulder comes rolling back at you. After the surgery, you are sill rolling the same boulderbut now you are on level ground. If you have to stop and take a breath, you don't lose ground.

I asked one of the patients who spoke to us at the first seminar I attended " what is different about this and every other weight loss attempt?" Not sure she gave me a direct answer, but I get the impression that it will give me the chance to loose the weight without feeling all the physical hunger. I know that the head chatter will always be a challenge....
