Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I don't have diverticulitis either, but have to think the dietary changes post surgery will only benefit you.
Hang in there on the 6 months deal--I'm in month 5 of mine. The first 4 months I felt like I was in limbo and it was tough. But I read a lot and feel like I have made huge progress on the 'head stuff'. I haven't lost a lot but just joined a fitness center where I can take water aerobics classes 4 days a week. Hopefully that will be the kick I need to meet my pre-surgery goal.
Check in often and keep us posted on your journey.

I tried to find some info on the subject online and found this:

Sounds like there hasn't been much research on the subject, but they think GBS will help.
Can't wait to hear your story!

But, like everything else in our lives...eating right and excersizing helps!!
BTW...I haven't had a repeat episode since surgery 9 months ago.
:0)
I am very careful about eating nuts and popcorn as I really think that is what triggers my episodes.
Thank you for the tips and comments :)
I am excited for my surgery and hope that it leads to a new, wonderful chapter in my life.
I have been advised to lose 30 lbs by January 2012 for my surgery. I am having difficulty losing weight because I have a fiber requirement that I have to meet each day to avoid having a diverticulitis episode.
