I will admit, I watch alot of tv. My job in the summer pretty much leaves me in a room watching tv and waiting on the off chance the 911 line on campus rings. Anyway, as you all know we are bombarded with food commercials. It is a constant struggle to be mourning food and see your favorite junk food float across the screen. (Though it should be appealing due to knowing to process the food hgoes through before photographing. But I wander off here) anyway, it suddenly hit me tonight. My surgery has not deprived me of anything. I has freed me. I can now turn and walk away, where 4 months ago, I would have given in. Maybe if I can keep this thought in my head, it will make the journey just a little bit smoother.

I got in the habit of hitting the mute button and reading or looking at a magazine during commercials.... :)

Good for you! I find I watch so little TV anymore. Really just the news in the morning when my TV wakes me up. And I hardly even pay attention. I used to watch the Food Network all the time. No more.

I noticed food commercials especially when I was fasting for tests and the last week or so before surgery. Now after surgery I don't pay much attention to them, maybe because I'm not hungry, maybe because for the last 5-6 months I've been concentrating on eating more healthy and trying to eliminate processed foods as much as possible.

I still live with a hubby that can eat pretty much what he wants, and I still smell the bacon when he's cooking it, but lately I've been just glad I can take deep breaths and smell it, don't really want to eat it Weird, huh! Now this all might change 4 or 5 months down the road, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Definitely wish they would ban food commercials though, like cigarette commercials LOL

Definitely free! There is junk, then there is food. The two cannot be used in describing the same thing! New way of thinking for me.

its not so depriving when you look at how it can hinder your progress or make you ill now so yes, the temptation here is minimal if at all. I love my new way of eating.

I think of my surgery as giving me "secret super-powers" over food. Ha!! I ain't sceered of no stinkin' food or food commercials!!
