Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. GOOD LUCK AND WALK WALK WALK
Keep up the good work =)
Never needed pain meds myself.
Welcome to the loser's bench! Take care of yourself and give yourself time to heal. Listen when they tell you no lifiting or a limit. Walking is good. So's resting!
I keep feeling like people are saying I am being a wimp and can't handle pain because I am needing so much medication, and that kind of makes me feel bad. My partner was like she didn't really need much pain meds and that I am just being a wimp about this, but she had a lapband not a Reux n Y gastric bypass with a hernia repair. I am not asking for pain meds for light pain. It has been pretty intense, even making me have the chills and body aches from it and my fever went up for a while with it. But thankfully it has gone back down and is manageable in the time frame of my med doses now.
In any event, I'm glad they got the pain under control for you. There is no reason to be in pain with the meds we have available in this day and age. So I'm glad you got the pain meds that worked for YOU. :-)
It is day 4 already, I can't believe it! When I was first in the hospital time moved so slowly, now it is just flying by. The pain in my stomach is so much better now! I keep feeling better by leaps and bounds! Yay!
Getting all the liquids in, but found I can not take one of my prescription meds I have to crush up due to burning and nausea, so I am going to have to find a solution for that or stop taking it. I don't really want to take it any more, but I am going to consult my PCP about it first.
My partner has been very supportive through all this. She took two days off to be with me, and has encouraged me to seek out all the information I can about things before the surgery, and told me what she could of her experience with lapband. She was there with a back rub and a hug when the pain got really bad. She was just teasing me about being a wimp. With this surgery I am just to overly sensitive about things.
Take care and keep up the great work! Glad to have you on the loser's bench!
