Just got home from seeing my diabetic doctor. He told me my diabetes was "Resolved". He says I am no longer a diabetic! I was 4 months post op yesterday and 83 pounds down. Still got about 80 to lose. But this is a NON SCALE VICTORY!
I am all wound up!

It's an amazing effect of this surgery! I know because I left the hospital completely off of the 3 meds I was taking for my type 2 diabetes. Congrats SgtSmith! d

I don't mean to be a downer here, but I would seriously question your doctor about this. My MD whose specialty is in diabetes told me that "once a diabetic, always a diabetic". With the excessive weight loss, most diabetics do not have to take any oral meds or insulin. However, the disease is in "remission", not cured. Just a thought...

really really happy for you...as one who's spouse is type 1 diabetic i know the suffering and troubles...ive seen so many of my co WLS friends throw the needles away for good...and some dont eve have to even take metforman anymore!!!

The term my doctor used was "Resloved". He is a diabetic specailist. I pointedly ask him if I could say I am no longer a diabetic and he agreed. I asked him to write me a letter to take to my license office to get the diabetic taken off my DOT record. He says he will.
You can still drive a commercial vehicle with diabetes but laws change back and forth. I keep my CDL for whe I retire.
