2 hrs?! Mine might have been 15 minutes and only because we talked about weather. Loll. 2 hrs and my lunatic side would show through.

I too wondered what would happen in the psyche eval. From someone who had gone before me said they really want to know that you don't have "off" expectations about this surgery.

What???!!!! You mean I'll still have to pluck my chin? I won't grow a few inches taller? I will still have to pay my bills? I'll still have occassional arguments with my husband? WTH!???? I thought this surgery was going to cure everything!!!!!

Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't...try not to today!

I'm with the others...two hours of anything that involves talking about me, feelings or expectations, and my crazy seeps out of the seams.

And it not only doesn't cure all those nasty life things, but more people are sitting back just watching...waiting for you to gain all that weight back, because somehow, all the thin people has a crystal ball and know it ALWAYS FAILS!!!

Play nice with the shrink...I love mine, he is the reason I haven't run away from my crazy life!

I didnt spend that much time with my psych eval. I already had a psych in place and was to see him before. I got one early because i read that i would need one for the WLS so I was ahead of the game by the time they wanted an eval from him. All he did was sign a piece of paper and fax it to my doc.

mine was 1 hr 15 minutes long..but it was actually just shy of 1 hr they prob figure a set time in and just use it if they want to(think they need to) lol.and you had to pick from a list the wls program had I couldnt use mine.of course it was a little awkward for me,but it will go well and you will pass and happy clean teeth day to you LOL

I'm especially interested in your assessment of the eval! Since I'm sure I will be going to this person too.

You will be fine, I think they know everyone is a "little" crazy...LOL

Mine was exactly an hour.. And the shrink sat there with his computer asking me a specific group of questions... He would then type in my response...
At the end he took 5 minutes wrote his assessment and then hit PRINT...
I took it to my surgeon, and low and behold: I AM NOT CRAZY!!!!!
You will do fine.. From what I see around here, you have a good head, and a very compassionate heart....

You will do fine Becca. Mine they asked some basic questions I might ask comparable to see if a man is suicidal. Then they asked a few more about my past. I just told her there were things I didn't want to talk about. She just said if it bothers you there must be an issue and left it a that. She touched on my expectations after sugery and that was about all. I passed!

2 hours good grief i waited two hours to see her the actual evaluation took all of 15 minutes because i told her all about me up front and all she said was you are going to ace this and signed the papers. Just don't tell them too much - they can and will use it against you. It happened to a friend of mine. There is such a thing as telling too much.
