I am craving salt all of a sudden. I pick up some nuts yesterday. At the lake that was one of the snack foods my host brought along. We were out about 4 hours longer than planned and I did not bring anything beyond lunch. Anyway, once I got a taste of the salt I can't seem to leave it. Is this an old craving kicking in, or is it because I am needing a little more salt in my diet? Anyone experience this?

The other day it was miserable hot here and I had a cookout for supper, with potatoe chips one of the items on the table. I havn't been tempted to eat chips (although I like to kiss my hubby after he has eaten them, just for the flavor, lol) all of a sudden I wanted chips, and I think it was the salt I needed because of all the sweating from the heat. I have never cooked with salt and only ever used it on a few foods, but after having a little salt I was fine and chips don't call out for me now.

This always happens to me about a week before my menstrual cycle starts. Salt can make the body retain water, so the scale may not be your friend right now. It's the opposite for me, I get on the scale and it puts me in check. See if you can find a savory snak to get you through the salt craving.

I have had the same issue the last week. I am attributing it to the high heat and extra water I have been drinking. I actually licked the chips for the salt the other night and threw them away. My husband thought I was crazy, but it was what my body needed at the time.

It was interesting though that even when they were in my mouth I had no temptation or interest even in taking a bite. For sure a change from before surgery when I would have sat and eaten half a bag of chips.

That make sense Sherry. I was out on the lake in the sun all day on Thursday, and drank several bottles of water. Then the sallt thing started that day. It seems to have passed for the most part now.

I went through some strange cravings along the way. I specifically remember a salt phase, a vinegar phase, and a guacamole phase. I chalked it up to my body needing something.

I have really bad salt cravings all the time...i too have licked chips or even had a couple just to solve that craving. Although the chips are not good for us - I will sometimes have the corn tortilla chips with salsa. This helps when I need the crunchiness as well.

I missed the "crunchy" of chips and the like more than the salt. When I got salad for the first time manny moons after surgery it was the crunch I savored. Never really had a salt crave.
Had a piece of birthday cake yesterday, Yeah it made me sick! I knew better.
