Miralax is a lifesaver and safe to take daily! I ran into the very same prob, only I was getting anal tears that were very painful, and one time I got a hemmeroid cuz it was so bad. My doc put me on Miralax. Easy to take and works wonders. I tried fiber supplements and they bound me up. I'd stop the fiber supplement if you're still bound up. It could be contributing to the problem like it did to me. I bind up every single time, really bad, anytime I take a fiber supplement of any sort! Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have had some constipation problems too and (literally) feel your pain. I stir Benefiber into my tea and yogurt a few times each day and take 100 mg of Colace each morning and night. It has made a positive difference! Good luck.

Like the others I was prescribed Miralax a little expensive but it does work for some people. I had to have a prescription laxative. it worked great.

Boy can I relate. Sometimes I feel like I am giving birth. My Dr. said to take Colace I can't remember how to spell it, but it is a stool softener. It helps most of the time but I have to be certain to eat vegies or fruit to help.

My surgeon perscribed a prenatal vitamin for me that has a stool softener in it. I still get a little backed up sometimes, tho. It depends on if I get enough water or not. If I don't drink at least 65 - 70 oz of water a day, I get constipated.

I think I'll try the Miralax.

I had constipation BEFORE the surgery,you can imagine how bad it is now.The only help I've found is when it is truely stuck (and you don't want to get a heart attack or stroke) to use a fleet enema. Not pretty but it works within 20 minutes. It somehow drags the water out of your abdominal lining which lubricates even the most hardened area and it comes out. I have such tears and hemmroids, and this is the only thing that helps. You might try it when you're desperate.

Ok, I have a serious warning for everyone. Be very careful about constipation. I actually just went to the doctor yesterday for this, I have anal fissure (which is like a tear), its 10x more painful than hemroids, and its very common in GB patients. You really need to take some kind of stool softener, drink lots of water, and eat fruits and veggies everyday. Please be very careful about this everyone cause the pain from this is absolutely excrutiating!!! But you can avoid it. if you do the right things. Dont let the constipation go on for too long or it will lead to this. Good Luck!! :)

I was using a stool sofener like Dolace, but we really shouldn't depend on these for extended constipation.they were intended for a one shot deal. I didn't get much help from them anyway.

Now I am using Fiber Choice wild berry flavored chewables. Awesome tasting and the work in a day or two, and can be taken daily, indefinitely. They do produce gas though, plan to be walking! Lol!
