Just a question - how was your level of comfort post op? Where you able to sleep in your bed or did you find you had to sit up all night for the first few days. Just a question that crossed my mind because when I had my surgery (gallbladder) I couldn't lay down for 7 days when I first got home. Just checking.................

I slept the first night in the hospital (plus a bunch of naps) quite comfortably on my back in the hospital bed. I stayed one night. The next night at home, I woke up sleeping on my stomach and have comfortably slept on my side/back ever since.

My surgery was laparoscopic so I just have five small incisions.

I had to prop up for about 2 weeks I believe. I've had my gallbladder out and I didn't think that this surgery was near as uncofortable :0) They'll send you home with pain meds so it'll be easier to sleep that way :0)

I was a tummy sleeper and I couldn't for over a month due to my little complication.... And the pain meds helped me sleep. Now I sleep on my side or back lol guess its the weight loss but I don't really sleep on my stomach.

I spent 2 nights in the hospital and slept propped up. I didn't have alot of discomfort (I was surprised). I slept propped up with pillows at home and slowly slide to my back. In the last week I have started to sleep on my side. I have been very cautious with this surgery trying to do everything right.

I could not lay flat. I had to sleep in a recliner.

yeah it was a recliner for me too!!...like some of the other i was afraid of busting something!!

The two nights in the hospital, I slept on my back though propped up a little by pillows. When I got home I slept fine in my bed though it took a couple of nights until I was comfortable sleeping on my side.

Walking and getting the gas out will greatly help your ability to get some good reast.

Slept pretty good in the hospital, (morphine helped the first night) after that if I had trouble getting comfy sue to pain I would ask for a pill. At home I used a pain pill the first few nights because I just could not get comfy enough to sleep. All in all it was very manageable.

Had my gallbladder out last year, ugh!!
Kept hitting pain button
Very
Uncomfortable at home
My GBP, a breeze compared to it
Hardly touched the pain button
I know someone who went back to a desk job in 3 days
We are all different

Thank you all for your feedback - i guess i am just asking every question that pops in my head to cover all my basis. I just pray recupping from this surgery is a lot easier than the bypass was. the main problem was they reopened the bikini cut for my tubligation and that was the hardest to heal - hopefully they won't touch that again because it was a hot mess to heal. Hi, I had the same experience as RubyMama. No problems sleeping at all. I was able to roll over on my side easily with minimal discomfort. I never had any actual pain. I also had laparaoscopic surgery. Kathy

I SLEPT ON MY BACK FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 2-3 WEEKS POST OP. BECAUSE OF THE HEALING PROCESS (PAIN ON YOUR SIDE) I'M SURE YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT HERE IT WAS MORE COMFORTABLE FOR ME THAN SLEEPING ON MY SIDE.

2 nights in the hospital and I slept fine, first night home I took a pain pill to help sleep but none after that and I had no problems sleeping in the bed.
