OK, we have all heard it. Having surgery is cheating or the easy way out, blah blah blah. I was watching the Bethenny show the other day and she had the comedian Lisa Lampenelli on her show. I was surprised to see her since I watched her on "The Apprentice" She has lost over 100# with gastric sleeve surgery. Bethenny asked her how she responds to people who say she cheated with surgery and Lisa's response was "Yea, I cheated. I cheated death." I am going to have to remember this comeback.

No it is not the easy way out. The surgery is a wonderful tool but that is what it is, a tool. You still have to do your part. I will definately remember that comeback!

I have finally started admitting to surgery recently, 5 months out. And when I told people yesterday, they asked if it was hard, and said that they had heard others talk about how much of a challenge it was. I think enough people are taking this route that more people hear about it and the uphill battle it really is.

My oldest son (he is 26) calls it cheating too. I told him, "Yep, I'm cheating!" I don't care if he thinks that. I'm doing this for me. I don't need his approval.

But that is an awesome comeback from Lisa Lampinelli. I really like her!

I gained all my weigh back after 5 years and joined weight watchers to get the weigh back off. I have not told anyone about my surgery because I don't want then to think I am cheating and haven't worked hard on the program to loose 95 pounds. Yes I still have to stay away from sugar and etc. but I am following the program. Right now my weight lost has come to a stand till and I was wandering should I be eating more protein? I still have 45 pounds I want to loose.

I hate when people insinuate that I took the easy way to weight loss. Um excuse me! This surgery almost cost me my life, and I have to constantly watch what I eat, how much I eat, when I eat and so on, more difficult than any diet I have ever been on. This surgery saved my life and has improved my quality of life beyond anything I could have hoped for.

I will never regret or apologize for the decision I made to have this surgery.
