Cardiologist

For those of you who had to see a cardiologist what did the appointment consist of? Did they just check your blood pressure and go over your medical history? I do not have high blood pressure or have any cardiac issues so I am not sure what to expect. Someone asked me if I would be given a stress test??? I didn't even think about that since I really don't have any issues that would warrant that test. I was thinking maybe and EKG would be the one test they would perform.

Any input on this?

I was required to have a echo cardiogram and a nuclear stress test. Both were fine and not difficult to endure. d

I had to have clearance from a cardiologist which consisted of a nuclear stress test and an echo chardiogram as well. But it was not big deal. Mine were fine. debby

What is a nuclear stress test?

My surgery is scheduled for 9/12 and my surgeons office told me to wait until close to my surgery date to get my cardiologist appointment. So that is appointment is on 8/20.

Did either of you have any heart issues that would have warranted a stress test of was this just routine evaulation for the surgery?

My heart dr said it is to avoid any issues at surgery time with the anestic. Sp? The anetheologist needs to make sure your heart is strong enough for surgery. Tests are no problem to go thru. Good luck. My surgery is 8/7

I just had a a hernia repair operation last summer. Full open insicision, surgery probably lasted close to two hours and I didn't have any of these tests, they weren't concern if my heart was strong enought then LOL. I am not really worried about the cardiology tests. I would be might surprised if they found anything that would affect my surgery date. Two years ago I had vertigo and low potassium levels amd I had all kinds of tests before they figured out what was wrong with me and Iall was well then too.

I didn't need to see one through my program. I don't have any heart issues or blood pressure issues so that might have been why. I did have to get a bunch of lab work, chest xray, EKG for base line tests when I started with the program in Feb 2012. Pre op 2 weeks before surgery I had to had a gallbladder scan and blood done. That was it for me.

I didn't have any known issues, but they required an EKG. Because that came back as 'abnormal', I had to undergo a stress test.

the stress test was just laying down pedaling a bicycle until my HR got to a certain level, as they did an ultrasound of my heart. It turned out fine, and they also told me that a lot of EKG's qualify as 'abnormal' and not to worry about it :)
