Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

WLS doesn't fix our heads. It's only a tool, so before you have the surgery, get some help and get started on the emotional issues you have around food. That is the best bet for long term success. Best wishes!
For real success, no matter what procedure you get, you need to do a lot of inner work. You need to identify your emotional eating triggers and address the underlying injuries that created them. And you need to develop several strategies to better deal with emotional triggers when they pop up, because they will. I know that that work can be scary and really challenging, but believe me, you and your happiness are worth that effort.
Before you make a decision on further surgery, I suggest that you search out a psychologist which whom you feel comfortable and begin to work on the reasons why you cheat. Because that kind of self-sabotage will trip you up no matter what surgeries you have. There just is no avoiding it.
And keep coming here for support. We've all been there, done that. and it can help to vent with people who get it. :)
Try to identify some foods you eat or drink and try to make some better choices. This will take the cheating out of the equation. In the end its not about cheating its about how you want to live. Its that simple. Small changes tend to be easiest.
Grazing is dangerous with the RNY. You got to keep your mind in the middle and not snack all day and night.
Any WLS is a tool, a wonderful tool but just a tool. You got to do your part.
I hate the word "Cheat"...how about, "Can I splurge?"
We know cutting out everything is impossible. The one thing I did find is if I could only eat small amounts I wanted them to count. I wanted quality over quantity. I wanted a party in my mouth. I started being diverse and trying new foods. Cooking new recipe's.
I rarely have sweets. Some send me into a sugar coma and would rather not feel like that. Someone recently took a "pumpkin crisp" to a potluck and I had two small bites....YUCK! It was heaven but those 2 small bites cost me. I felt ill.
Went to Vegas and over did sushi....most of it was shashimi and I went into a sushi coma that evening. Husband watched TV in bed at the hotel while I lie in bed...sleepy and feeling not quite right because I over ate.
I remember going back for my couple a week appointment to see my doctor after my RNY (2009) and a woman who had it with me was bragging about eating cheetos! REALLY? Or the time I seen a thread on a forum with a woman talking how she could eat a footlong Subway sandwich.
Splurge, You're going to run into that birthday party, that wedding...etc. You WILL know your limits. Don't push beyond that. Those foods that got you where you are now are not going to disappear forever off planet earth.
As many have mentioned....it's only a tool and needs to be used as that. Figure out what's in your head. The why's and how's. What's your motivation? Find something that drives you to stay on your journey and feel good. Find a sport, a hobby....find something you love so much that gaining back weight is not an option.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Something I did recently that worked well was challenging myself to stay away from all fast food for a month. I rewarded myself with $100 to spend on whatever I want. I put that money towards a personal trainer.
I'm going to do it again and for longer and include the hardest part, sweet carbs like bagels and donuts. And my reward will be bigger because it's harder lol.
It takes work no matter what. It's a mindset and that's the hardest thing to change. Best of luck to you.
