I will be 6 weeks out this a Tuesday. The weight loss has been slow but steady since surgery. I've lost about 25 lbs in those 6 wks plus the 20 on the pre op diet for a total of 45 lbs. I guess that's not bad. I do feel better. I went back to work last week which threw me for a loop and I ended every night after work with a 2 hour nap. I hope that this week is easier, but I have not yet added exercise. Should I wait until my body gets used to going back to work before going back to the gym or should I push it a bit?

If you can at least get out and walk 30 minutes a day 5-6 days a week that would be good for your body. I wasn't allowed to do anything strenuous until about 6 weeks out, my doc wanted to make sure I was healed up well enough not only from surgery, but I had collapsed lungs and a large hematoma on my stomach. Even though you are just getting back into things and working now, I would still try and move around each day.

I am 11 weeks today and I have not yet started any real exercise as of yet, however due to my not getting in all my liquids each day has been the main reason. I do not want to get dehydrated. My Surgeon said as soon as I can at least get in 45 to 50oz a day I can then start a program. So this is the week that I get to start!!! Also listen to your body. If you are at least getting in some time to walk during the day, you are at least moving. If you are tired do not over due it you are still healing. It was around 9 weeks that I finally got some energy back.

I agree with emakai that walking would be good for you. However, you don't have to do it all at one time. You can go for 2 15 minute walks.

I know it seems counterintuitive, but personally, I find exercising gives me more energy.

I'd walk some. I wouldn't do any lifts or heavy workouts unless my doctor approved it. At a month out I went back to work and could do anything I wanted including cutting firewood.

Again, I'd asked the doc first.

I agree with the walking. Short walks would be great for starters.
