Hi i am a little over 4 months post op I have lost 97 pounds. (I have been stuck at that for the last 3 weeks and thats ok cause i it is normal for plateaus) but about 4 weeks after surgery i started getting burning in my stomach. Has anyone else had this problem?

Me too, i had surgery 4 month ago too. I am trying over the counter antacid, not sure what else to do.

Please dont self-medicate or just put up with it. If you are having difficulties, better to get on it now instead of waiting until something like an ulcer develops in your pouch. This is DEFINATELY a call your surgeon moment.

BTW, if you are drinking anything with a strong citrus base (Crystal Lite Lemonad for instance), that will give you all sorts of problems.

Okay, I had the same issue and now I take Nexium daily. Big Hot Mama's right about the citrus. Two sips of orange juice almost sent me into orbit one day. Talk to your surgeon. You probably need an antacid.

I sure agree with Mama and Maggie. You need to talk to your dr. about it. It's not good to ry to self medicate yourself and it sounds like it isn't working, anyway. You sure don't want to get an ulcer. I am on prilosec and it helps.

It is good you ask on this site about your stomach burning issues. However you should call your doctor and advise him what is going on. It could b e serious or it may not. It however could be worse by not doing anything about it. Bleeding Ulcers or just Ulcers are a risk with GBS and anything not normal should not be ignored.

Thank you all for the advice. I go back to the drs thurs. and will definetly bring this up again. The last visit I had I did and he suggested prilosec and that works as long as I take it everyday but after 14 days I come off it and a week later it starts all over. So Thanks again for all the advice and I will surely ask my Dr again.

Ok, now I am scared, I am 4 months out and I am having stomach burning. It started sunday, I blamed it on the fact that on Saturday I had gone to a bbq, and maybe I hate something bad. I felt better Monday during the day and then it came back with a vengence...so then I thought, both times I ate watermelon, maybe there is too much sugar in that and its what is bothering me. Now after reading these posts i am thinking I might have an ulcer. I have been on Protonix from day one, but recently started on celebrex for knee pain. This being said, I guess I better call my Dr. tomorrow and run it by him.

Wow, this is really odd, that everyone is 4 months out and having this pain. Whats up with that????
