They will probably just tape the broken toe to an adjoining toe. But I would definitely go to the doctor if you have swelling on the bottom of your foot too. You may have done more damage than just to the toe.

Going to the doc is not a bad idea... if they cannot do more than tape it up, at least you'll know for sure! Peace of mind is often the key to our recovery :)

I probably would go to the ER or an urgent care center where they could do an x-ray. One of my kids got hurt and my instinct was to go to the ER, but I called the doctor instead. They had me come in. By the time we got there, it was after hours. He needed an x-ray so we had to wait til the next day. I had to miss work. We had to wait for the results. I knew that if we'd gone to ER or urgent care, it would have all been taken care of much more efficiently.

THey will just tape it to the other toe. I have broken mine before and don't go to the dr cause there isn't alot they can do and then you are just out the co pay money!

Yes go to the doctor, if you have swelling well beyond that toe you may have done something to the tarsal bone as well. On the safe side you should go and get an xray.

I would go to the doc.. I broke my toe once by walking into a door.. It was very painful... They taped it to the other toe and gave me a special boot to wear....

Took about three weeks to heal.... Let us know how you make out... I hope you didn't do any more damage to your foot...

Ain't much you can do for a broken toe. I broke a couple. Maybe they will give you some pain meds.
