Boredom with Current Career

Now that I have lost weight and feel great I am super bored with my career choice. I am a life skills teacher for adults with DD. I love them and have been doing this for 8 years. I have a great boss and I pretty much make my own schedule. I really have no reason to be so bored. I would love to go back to school for Nursing....of course the expense and time without an income is just not doable right now but hey you never know.

I wonder if losing the weight has just freed my mind from doing things I never dreamed of doing before....

Is anyone else experiencing these types of feelings?

Well, Im about to get into my nursing program, but if you are wanting one that will work with your life schedule, I recommend an online program called Excelsior or something like that. You go and pay at your own pace.

I love my job. But I've been in the drug and alcohol field for years. I've also just finished school for getting certified and applied for grad school, so there's not much time for boredom.

You know it's funny you say the "freed my mind" thing. I have been going through something like that too, since I decided to have the surgery. I actually did accept a new job last week. I had been unhappy in my job for a long time...working in corporate america..hated it! so now I am going to work for a smaller company with more opportunity for me to do new things. I think that as I decided to "take control" of this food issue. Which Iink is my biggest issue I deal with...i decided I can take control of some other things too. So, there have been and are going to be more changes coming in my life....

I am currently wrapping up my BS in psychology.... I'll be done end of spring. My goal was to go to grad school to become a counselor, but as my healthy declined the year before surgery, I was concerned if I should even try, or if I could manage it...

Now, at 6 months (almost) post op.... I am so very ready! And know I have much life left to get it done and have a career as a therapist yet... even at 53!

Life is too short even when you are healthy.... do what you feel is right for you! Take out student loans if you have to... follow your dreams!

I agree with the sentiments already stated. My only comment, especially for the nursing field, check out grants online. Some grants for nursing are so specific, like a grant for someone with the last name "Miller in Georgia." Good luck!!!
