I have all ways sworn to never even go out on Black Friday, let alone actually shop. The work Holiday Party was announced Tuesday, with the date being December 15. My wardrobe consists of two pairs of size 10 jeans, five work tops, two bras, seven pairs of undies, seven pairs of socks and one pair of one piece footed pjs, leopard spotted, of course :)
So, I was afraid that if I waited too long to do it, I wouldn't be able to find anything dressy. Yep. I broke the rule and was out at 9am. Granted, that's not exactly Black Friday hours, but was close enough for me! Store One, no luck. Store Two, here's where it starts getting good! It was a women's store with sizes ranging from 4 to 24. I'd been in this chain before and knew that the stores are divided into two sections, 4 to 16 on one side, and 18 to 24 on the other. Sweetie and I were standing just inside the door wondering which side of the store to go to, since the areas were not marked. A sales associate walk toward us and said " Hi! The small sizes are on that side." We hadn't asked! :) It was a yet another tear up moment. Ok. Regained composure.
Looked around and saw lots of nice things...all in my size, 10 misses, or medium. Happy camper! Sweetie had his eye on a really pretty black top that was sheer at the shoulders, sleeveless, with a wide blue/ purple sequined band around the bust. From the bust down, it was sheer black with a blue/purple underlay with a handkerchief hemline. They had it on display with a pair of black satin dress pants. I found them on the rack, and set off for the fitting room. Top was great! Pants... Not so much. With my heart in my throat, I had the associate bring me a size...8. I braced myself for the feeling of devastation I'd feel if they didn't fit, throwing me back to all the times of the past where I'd come home from trying to buy clothing in tears and head directly for the refrigerator.
They fit. I exhaled...deeply...and went out to show Sweetie. It looked pret-ty hot, if I do say so myself!
Black Friday shopping was not so bad after all!
