Between Sleeve And RNY

Dear Friends,i am new to our group and very appreciative of you all.I have been reading all your topics and only know ,after i got my insurance approval i have the courage to write.I would like to know what make you choose between the RNY and the Sleeve, even though i have done a lots of research and disscussed it with my doctor ,i still unsure if i have done the right decision.I wonder if any of you after the procedure regrets of your choice and why...if those whom choose Sleeve are loosing considered weight compared to RNY,and if everybody whom chooses RNY has experienced ""Dumping Syndrome""....Sincerely Thanks

I had the sleeve cause I was leaning towards it anyways and my surgeon said it would be the best for me. I didn't want to deal with malabsorption issues with vitamins and minerals since the sleeve is a restrictive measure only. I was also worried about rerouting everything they do with the RNY.
As far as hernias go, they found a hital hernia while in there doing the sleeve surgery so they fixed it while in there so I am not for sure why you couldn't have sleeve surgery with a hital hernia. Must just be differing opinions of bariatric surgeons.

I did the sleeve and feel great! I am 4 months out and down 70 lb. I eat when I have to and no head hunger. I had alcohol for the first time and no issues. I work out like a beast and see good results.

Had the RNY 6/13/12...Down 51 pounds. I like the small pouch and I could not overeat or eat the wrong things. I get the dumping when I eat bread. I kinda like iot when I dump because it puts me back on track. Also, I like the mal absorpition and I dont absorb all the calories I eat. I think the sleeve allows your to "cheat" more. I have NO discipline thats why the rny was for me. I have forced portion control.

I had the sleeve because of my weight 381 day of surgery it was suggested as a means of reducing my weight and making it less risky if I decided at a later time to have full RNY. I just had a doctors appointment last Thursday and was told that I had lost 60% of my body weight and was doing excellent. I am 19 months out and have lost 170 lbs from start to my current plateau. I stalled for about 2 months and at my recent appointment found that I had again lost another 3 lbs. From here on out its up to me to use the tool as it was meant....exercise and portion control will help me to maintain and continue to lose. Wish you well in whatever your choice may be!!
