Welcome back J I am sorry you had complications, I had very severe pain for about a week after surgery but the Dr, gave me liquid Hydrocodone. I would call your general MD if you have one to prescribe something that does not sound right to have nothing. I am at about 3 1/2 weeks past surgery now and do not have any more pain, feeling alot better just weak and a little light headed. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

I'm sorry to hear your having so much pain!
What was the Dr.s reasoning for not giving you something for pain?
It's a proven fact, we heal faster with pain control!
Ofcourse it brings different issues as well!
If it's unbearable, advocate for yourself!
The pain does get better, promise!
Hang in there, soon you will have no regrets and all this will be a distant memory!

Sorry you've had a tough time of things!! Glad you are home now... let us know how things go for you over the next few weeks!! I am hopeful they will improve quickly!

Congrats now that you are home. I haven't ever heard of not giving someone who had surgery some pain meds, did he suggest liquid Tylenol for you?

JJ I agree with the others, liquid Tylenol or call your doc and insist.

Really shocked you do not have pain med prescription. Although liquid Tylenol did it for me. Try that if you are in a lot of pain.

Sorry you had a tough time. I agree with the others - call your doctor and get some pain medication. Unless there is a medical reason for not prescribing the pain meds, you should be able to get a prescription.

A friend of mine who was a month ahead of me on having his RNY done told me the 1st month I would think I made the mistake of my life having surgery then it gets better. It does!

Sorry you had complications and pain most of us don't. They sent me home from the hospital with liquid Norco but I never needed it. We finally discarded it.

Listen when they tell you no lifting then a 10 pound limit. I felt too good the 2nd week and went out to the shop and wrenched on a bike a while. Made myself really sore!

I agree, you should have pain meds. Why did they tell you, they were not giving you a script for a pain med??

If your Bariatric Dr won't give you an RX, then call your primary Dr, and explain to them.

John i am so sorry that you had some complications. hoping you are feeling better everyday...why wouldn't the Dr prescribe you pain medication? I was on liquid Roxicet and then gave me script of vicodin for the 1st month if needed which thank goodness I have only needed a few times. Praying for better days ahead

Sorry to hear that you had complications. I too regretted my decision for about 2 weeks after the surgery.. The pain was bad, and I didn't know what I was getting myself into.. However, it does get better. I am 9 weeks out and down 50 lbs. so, just remember the prize...

My first thought waking up in recovery after the initial realizing that I was alive- was if I knew it was going to hurt this much, I never would have done it!!! I was in bad bad pain- so I know what your going through! It really IS worth it!
