Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Your disability doesn't even have to be visible i can park in handicap and get stares like no other. Its like until you have lived in my shoes you have no room to judge me. (I have RA & Lung disease)
Life itself is as beautiful as one wants to make it. We can wake up each morning and say thank you for another day of glorious life or be a grump and go about the day.
But what you are complaining about is human nature. It may be the shadow side of our nature, but it is a normal part of us. Often, we are our own worst critics and judges. If you are seeing a lot of jugdmentalism around you, it may be that you are also hearing a lot of it in your own head. It can be easier to see it in others rather than to silence our own inner critic.
Give yourself some love! Tell your inner critic to hush up.
Oh, and BTW, ...... we are living in a society that is WAY more tolerant that those in centuries past. It is actually better today.....
there are all kinds of prejudice out there ........like in our situation some people out there once they have this judge other obese people and God forbid the obese person does not want to hear about the procedure or have it. They have this high horse they get on and push or decide the obese person is less then them. (I have 6 friends who did this we come in all mindsets) Look at the race issues ....many say its just whites that have issues but that is so not true. Or with gay people some religious people will always feel its their business what people do in their homes.
I think these things have always been and will always be because we teach our children what we know. There will always be people teaching their own that different is wrong. I guess without the bad views we would see how much we have in each other spiritually.
There was a documentary on TV last night about slavery and I sat there with tears in my eyes... I was asking over and over what gave one man the right to treat another man that way.... I am so thankful I did not grow up in that time period....
And I remember taking genetics class in college... The pleasantly plump woman was considered beautiful.... Too some people today that is still considered beautiful... Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder.... When I see an extremely overweight person I thank God for the opportunity he has given me, and quite often I pray for health and happiness for that person... I realize that I have been given a gift and another chance at life... I do NOT see ugliness...I see someone that I have empathy for... Because I know first hand how hard it is to feel good and carry around a lot of extra weight.. I know firsthand what it feels like to have little money to be able to buy food that is healthy and buying what I could afford just to eat...
I don't think it is wrong to teach our children to be FIT and HEALTHY... Being overweight does not make us ugly, it makes us unhealthy... I feel we need to place emphasis on taking care of the bodies we were given, not making ourselves look like models....
Beauty comes from within.... Society should go back to this motto, but I don't think it will happen... Humans have become very angry and self-centered (in many cases), and very competitive with one another... It is so very sad... I wish we could live in a world where everyone just looked at their neighbor with love and compassion in their hearts....
