Anti-inflammatory

Does anyone know after bypass surgery what to take if I need an anti-inflammatory if I throw my back out. It doesn't happen often but at some point I will need a drug like Ibuprofen for swelling. Forgot to ask my doctor and dont see anything in research.

Talk to you surgeon for sure. Mine said I could use Ibuprofen once in a blue moon, not an everyday thing. There is also Prescription anti-inflammatory that you can get the are not NSIADS.

Ibuprofen is a no-no. It is too hard on our pouches. I recently cracked my tail bone and was dying for an advil. My doc prescribed Voltaren which is basically an anti-inflammatory in a gel that gets absorbed through the skin. It worked great for me. Might work well on your back.

Thank you very much I think Voltaren Gel might be the answer for me. I have heard that you can use ibuprofen once in awhile too.

I hope it helps. I'm too scared to try Advil anymore. After my otherwise healthy step-son almost bled to death from the damage Advil did to his stomach, I can't imagine what it would do to my little pouch.

Talk to your doctor first of course. I take Meloxicam for infamamation and Tramadol for the arthrits. Of course both are by prescription. So far no ill results.
I had to go off them for a while for minor surgery. About locked up!

I had the sleeve and NSAIDS are out for people that have had the sleeve or By pass at my WLS program. Extra Strength tylenol is what you have to take. I did read they can give you an anti inflam through an iv and it won't be bad for you cause it isn't consumed and goes through your digestive tract. I found this out cause when I had my WLS sleeve surgery they were giving me an anti inflam in the hospital through the iv and I asked them about it.
I am having alot of problems with carpal tunnel in my right hand and tennis elbow in my left arm. I have been taking tramadol for it at night before bed.
I have to have carpal tunnel surgery in 2014 cause it is so bad nothing else will help it. A cortisone shot in the left elbow area is what will have done right after the first of year since I start a new insurance deductable and I have to pay out of pocket up to $500 so I am trying to hold off on the cortisone shot till 1/2/14!

Meloxicam is NSAID. Are you sure you can take it?

I been taking meloxicam at my docotr's orders all along with no issues. It may not work for everyone. The arthrisis is a mess without it.
