Next week will be my son's birthday ... his 28th birthday and his 10th in heaven.
I still struggle with missing him daily but somehow his birthday isn't full blown sadness. It's easier to smile remembering him on his birthday.
The years of parties ... special birthday dinners of whatever he wanted ... silly presents ... always a special day. It was afterall the best day of my life. I forever had a piece of my heart walking around outside my body who I loved more than I ever dreamed possible.
My husband now and I have always done something special on Randy's birthday every year. Some thing fun, memorable that he would love. Somehow it makes it easier for me to get through the day.
I have said good-bye to my grandpap, my dad, my grandma .... friends .... nothing has ever knock the wind out of me like losing Randy. I went through every stage of grief there is that first year he passed ... some steps more heartbreaking than others. Then I realized something that, while I still miss him, I can also celebrate him. Even knowing the outcome of losing him, I would still choose to have him in my life. I am thankful to God for allowing me to know him and love him. Randy was truly my gift from God.
Randy taught me so much about myself, life, death, my walk with God ... about him. I cherish my time on earth with him and know I will once again see him one day where he will no longer struggle. As for these days here on earth, I am so very thankful to him for the "angels" he placed in my life to help me walk this path.
So, I wish my sweet, funny boobear a Happy 28th Birthday and may he soar on angel wings.

You are an amazing Mom to celebrate his life and really feel blessed to have him as your son and your angel.
Tomorrow i'll have my family sing Happy Birthday to Randy really loud outside so he can hear us.
