June 12 2013-will mark my three year post op from having the GB. My journey started two years before that weighing 291 pounds and I had to loose 29 pounds before my Kaiser insurance would consider me for surgery. Loosing that weight was like climbing a up hill battle, so so so hard.

I finally did and then was put on the 4 month weighting list for surgery.

I have lost a total of 140lbs during this process and am so happy I made the decision to commit to my health and weight loss journey.....I have stayed between 149-155 over the last year......I maintain the weight loss by a regular routine. I usually do an hour of cardio ,20 minutes of weights and 20 minutes of stretching, and believe or not I love it. I would have rolled my eyes at anyone who said they love to workout, but now i completly understand. Excersise is a way to reduce my tension and its a huge gift that i give to myself, it says I am important enough to take care of.
I basically can eat just about anything I want-I eat a very tiny portion and I do not have alot of restrictions. The one thing I gave up and never picked back up again is diet soda. I do miss it on a hot day but I have to remember that it all is so worth it.


I had a tummy tuck last year and had 12 pounds of skin removed--that was a huge cost and a very hard recovery. I would do it again in a heartbeat:)

Just wanted to let some of the people contemplating surgery let them know that it is all worth it. I wish I would have done it sooner.

Yes it is hard. Yes it takes longer than you would probably like, Yes it life changing, and Yes you should keep trying because at the end of the day it has made me so proud to be healthy and have I mentioned I love the body I get to live in:)
