I had surgery Wednesday... came home Thursday and am finding myself with basically enough pain medication to get me through the weekend. I am taking them as prescribed, and taking tylenol as instructed but I won't lie when I say I'm getting nervous about will happen tomorrow when I am out completely. I know many people don't need the meds for more than a few days but I am one of the ones that does! I know everyone's body reacts differently, should I just call my surgeon this following Monday to see what she says?

Definitely. Do you have a number where you could contact her today? Maybe a 24 hour service that can reach her? No, you're not being a wimp. I was in your place last weekend, and if you need the pain meds, then you need them. I guess you've already checked for refills on the pain meds. It does get better everyday. Hang in there.

My Dr. gave me enough syrup tp last a month. I used it. Some days a lot some days a little. Callhimi and ask for a refill. I was in the hospital for 2 nights also. You are not a whimp

I was always told to be in control of your pain. If you need more, I think you should ask for it. I was on Loratab and I used it mostly to go to sleep at night. You will find that you will use it less and less but I would make sure you have what you need, just in case. I hope it gets better soon.

And now that I actually think about it, you had surgery on Wednesday and came home on Thursday??? You are in no way a wimp!! I was in there for 3 days and had nurses in charge of my pain level. You are far from wimpy in my opinion. :)

if you need it, ask for it you would hate to end up at the because you are in pain, Good luck!

@Jen, Yeah.. surgery was Wednesday morning at 7:30 and I was discharged on Thursday in the early afternoon. It was a fast in/out stay for me.

I called the doctor on call and they called me in another prescription. I have pushed myself too much with the working out sort of deal, I have been up and walking a ton all day, I need to make sure I rest up.

Everyone is different, I had surgery on Tuesday came home on Thursday and trust me I cant take pain at all but the more I walk around the better I feel. My issue is food, everyone is eating all of my fav and I have broth, lol. Hang in there it will get better.

I was worried I'd be in pain and run outta meds... Then I went to pick up my prescription and they handed mr this HUGE bottle of pain meds with a refill... Then I got nervous :-/ like wait a minute how much pain will I have?! I guess they were just making sure I'll be ok. And I think you in no way are being a wimp. Glad they helped you out :-) you JUST had major surgery. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm glad you called your dr and got a refill. I pre op but I would think if you are in pain you should take the meds and they would give you refill.

Call your doctor for a refill...no shame in that. I was in for 2 nights. Why did they send you home so soon? You have the rest of your life to be strong and suck it up. They give it to you for a reason. Everyone has a different pain level. Mine is pretty low. That's why god invented vicadin.

I would call your doctor and get more pain meds. They should've given you more than that. Some doctors are just stingy when it comes to pain meds.
